For many of you summer started several weeks ago. For me, it has really only been two weeks. The previous two weeks have been busy with packing our school building, end-of-year teaching meetings, taking a family vacation, and getting our oldest son off to Israel.
So for us, Camp Mommy really just started this week! What do I mean by Camp Mommy? Every year I strive to keep my boys busy during our time together (besides a few weeks of real camp). We try to have one outing a day to get everyone out of the house and off screens!
Keeping them occupied is not always cheap, though. So several years ago I researched and created my own Summer Bingo game with various choices of what we could do during the summer and how much each costs. Of course, we spend time at home engaged in various activities, but getting out of the house at least once a day is good for everyone!
We have fun each summer trying to complete as many squares on our bingo boards as possible. I like to check off each one, add the date and outing name (if needed), as well as a sticker (teacher superspot mini stickers work great for this). The outings with a ♥ are our favorites – excursions we do more than once during the summer! I especially like to take my kids to as many free programs sponsored by our county library system. I am sad that this year they are still only virtual.
Each year I add any new excursions and take off any that have closed. This year there are many additions and changes! The second page includes the Key to the color code. I limited the background colors so it will not use up a ton of ink when printing!
